A lot of people need their morning coffee. But at Sipipa, we really enjoy coffee in the early evening with one of our many delectable desserts. On National Coffee Day, we suggest these five favorite desserts for pairing with your choice of coffee.
Nothing goes better with coffee than MORE coffee! Tiramisu, the traditional Italian custard with coffee-dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone cheese, is one of our most popular desserts. Tiramisu means “lift me up” or “cheer me up” in Italian, and that’s exactly what every delicious bite of this decadent treat does.
Italian Cream Cake
This creamy, sweet and spongy dessert is a classic pairing with fresh-brewed coffee. Many think of Italian Cream as a cake flavor reserved for special occasions — perhaps because it’s a very popular wedding cake flavor. But we could enjoy the combination of coconut, pecans, rich cake and cream cheese frosting any time.
It seems a bit odd that something with caramel, chocolate and pecans mixed together would be named after a cold-blooded reptile, but I we’ve found the origin story! It turns out, Turtles brand candy were developed in 1918 by Johnson’s Candy Company. The caramel-chocolate-pecan candies started off as non-uniform blobs, but when one of the candy dippers mentioned that they looked like turtles, the company because producing them in turtle-shaped molds. Now, the “turtle” flavor is on a variety of desserts, but we love it most topped on cheesecake.
We might love serving Italian food, but we’re just as American as apple pie. Our flaky, buttery pie is homemade the old-fashioned way with fresh apples and the perfect blend of brown sugar and cinnamon. It’s great topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but we also love it with an iced coffee!
Chocolate Chip Cookie
Our truly perfect cookie is soft, chewy and crisp all at the same time. Of course, it pairs well with a tall glass of ice-cold milk, but have you ever tried dunking a fresh cookie in a cup of streaming hot coffee? We suggest you try it as soon as possible!
Enjoy a second (or third) cup of coffee today, and pair it with your favorite dessert from Sipipa.
